- Sit balanced on your chair. Open your mouth by saying Costco like Cost—COE. Now pretend you are an old, tired dog. Breathe slowly and deliberately, exaggerating each inhale and exhale. Remain relaxed and repeat for a few more breaths.
- Pretend you are a band teacher. Use low LA, TI, DO, RE, and MI {ME} to play in minor tonality. Play a series of 4-beat rhythms for your imaginary class to echo. Use a legato articulation.
- Band Book page 40 #3: This exercise uses the notes from the Bb major scale, but they are in a slightly different order called thirds. Learn the first two measures and the last two measures. For an additional challenge, learn the measures in between.
- Pick any song in the book that looks interesting. Challenge yourself to learn something new!

- Sit balanced on your chair. Open your mouth by saying Costco like Cost—COE. Hold your arms in front of you like you are a train. Breathe in with an open mouth as you pull your train arms towards you. Hiss out with relaxed shoulders as you extend your train arms away from you. Repeat many times, quickly changing the direction of your arms and air.
- Pretend you are a band teacher. Use low LA, DO, and MI {ME} to play in minor tonality. Play a series of 4-beat rhythms for your imaginary class to echo. Use a legato articulation.
- Band Book page 40 #2: Look for miniature scale patterns. Can you find all three? Play the notes without any slurs. Once your fingers are confident, add the slurs by tonguing the first note under the arch and blowing through the second note. Can you play the notes faster?

- Sit balanced on your chair. Open your mouth by saying Costco like Cost—COE. Repeat, and fill your body with air on COE. Hiss air out while bending over at your waist. Return to sitting upright without inhaling new air. Relax your stomach muscles and allow new air to rush into your lungs. Feel how much air your lungs can hold!
- Pretend you are a band teacher. Choose your favorite note. Play a series of 4-beat rhythms on your favorite note for your imaginary class to echo. Use a legato articulation.
- Band Book page 40 #1: Review the scale. Play the scale with strong air and a clear tongue. Now add an articulation pattern like slur 2 notes, staccato 2 notes, repeat. You can use legato, staccato, slur, and accent.

- Invite air into your body with a relaxed jaw and throat. Hiss out a fast stream of air. Wiggle your shoulders while you hiss to keep your body relaxed. Repeat a few times.
- Pretend you are a band teacher. Choose your favorite note. Play a series of 4-beat rhythms on your favorite note for your imaginary class to echo. Use a legato articulation.
- Band Book page 42 #33-36: Chant the rhythm aloud using solfege {du & du-day}. Play the rhythm while thinking the solfege. Dotted half notes are 3 beats, whole notes are 4 beats, and rests are silent.

- Pretend to sip air through a straw until the imaginary balloon in your stomach is full of air. Steadily hiss a strong stream of air until your balloon is deflated. Repeat a few times.
- Create an 8-beat song using quarter {du} and eighth {du-day} notes. Once you can play your song with confidence, add articulations. For instance, use legato {smooth & connected}, staccato {short & separated}, or accents {emphasized & separated}.
- Band Book page 42 #13-16: Chant the rhythm aloud using solfege {du & du-day}. Play the rhythm on any pitch while thinking the solfege. Remember to be silent on the rests.
